This sermon – Will He Find Faith When He Returns?  – was originally preached 2014.03.02 by Jake Troyer.

The faith that Jesus will be looking for will be faith in our hearts.

What is faith? – Faith is believing in something that we can’t see.

Hebrews 11

Why do we close our eyes when we pray? Because we are to be looking at those things that can’t be seen through the physical eye.

God has called us to faith, entering the spiritual reality and believing that there is a God.

Faith is entering and living in the presence of God.

The heroes of faith that we see in Hebrews 11 aren’t there to be just lifted up and admired. We should be looking at their lives and using them as “repair manuals” in our own lives.

A lot of these guys in Hebrews 11 were seen by the people in their day and age as being potentially crazy. They were living with a vision of eternity and acknowledging the call of God on their lives. It looked ridiculous to those who were watching!

People can look at us and hopefully see some of the same characteristics. Instead of spending time at home drinking coffee we come to church and sit in hard benches to listen to a man teach out of an antique book. It probably does look a little bit crazy from those looking on.

John the Baptist came not eating or drinking. Jesus came eating and drinking and he was called a wine bibber. Neither one of them fit in. They weren’t accepted because they were “abnormal.”

The life of faith leads each person to live in the presence of God. Is God walking with us?

John 5:44

Is our focus on our brother or is our focus on the Lord? Are we receiving honor from God or from our brother?

There are many things in our lives that we need faith for.

We Need Faith for Salvation

Romans 10:9-12

Faith is necessary for our salvation. If we do not have faith and believe that Jesus paid the price for our sin, we cannot be saved!

The scriptures tell us that if we believe on Jesus we shall not be ashamed.

Romans 8:24

Does my life make sense in this world or does it make sense in eternity.

We Need Faith for Our Everyday Provisions

God takes care of the birds of the air and the flowers of the field. Do you think he cannot take care of you?

Have faith for your everyday provisions.

We Need Faith for Our Protection

We need God for protection. In the difficult times of our lives as we face the daily struggle, we need God for our protection.

God will reward those who diligently seek Him. God will look in the hearts of the people and ask the question, “Will I find faith?”

Will we be maintain the fear of God in our heart?

We Need Faith for Our Healing

Everywhere Jesus went he was looking for faith.

Mathew 9:2

Mathew 9:20

Mathew 8:5

Do we have faith today? It takes effort to maintain the reality of faith in our hearts.

2 Corinthians 4:18

Luke 12:6-7

Jesus is talking to a huge group of people. Jesus talked to them about sparrows because they are the most common bird. Jesus said that God sees each and every one of those sparrows. Not one of them is forgotten.

We get stuck in our mental capacity. God’s mental capacity is so much greater than ours! God sees us. He knows us. He has time for each of us. God even knows how many hairs are on our head!

God says he is counting the hairs on our heads. He is telling us that he has time for us and is intricately interested in me, what I am doing, where I am going, etc…

How much do you want to have God in your life? God isn’t holding you back…

Will he find faith on the earth when he returns? Will he find us living in faith?
