What matters more in a song? The music or the words? A lot of people think that music is amoral, neither right or wrong. Is a single note right or wrong? Is a single letter right or wrong?
Music, in and of itself sends a message. Music, or most of it, is not neutral. Can we put good lyrics to the music of the world? Yes, words affect the listener and yes words matter. If the music itself affects us the music itself is a moral issue.
As Christians, we are to surrender everything to the Lord. That includes our thoughts, our emotions, our actions, and our music.
Has Satan left music alone? No, he is very involved. Do you think that he uses music to try to control people? Is there a spiritual side to music itself?
It is difficult to draw perfect, simple lines with music, but we are wise to consider the music in the songs we listen to. Most music is written and sang with purpose.
Good music is an incredible opportunity to fill our minds with music that will encourage us on the right paths. Music can be so tremendously positive.
So where do we draw the lines? Can we taste things that mix the kingdom of the world and the Kingdom of God? We cannot mix the two things without diluting the message of the Kingdom of God.
As Christians we make decisions all the time, every day, we have to choose what’s good, and bad, and what’s in between. Let us get whatever ministers to our souls from a pure soul. Let us make sure what we listen to comes from a good place…
