Hebrews 12:14-25 – Abel’s blood was speaking so loudly that it was heard in heaven. The blood of Jesus, which was shed on the cross is speaking better things than the blood of Abel.
Blood is very important. If you lose too much blood you lose life. Blood is important because life is important.
Abel’s Blood
What is it that Abel’s and Jesus’ blood is speaking to us? Abel’s blood in the ground was really bad news for Cain. Jesus blood for us is very good news!
Adam and Eve were created to live forever. After they sinned death became a part of their (and our) lives.
Genesis 4:1 – Abel’s blood spoke loudly. It was heard in heaven by God. It was heard by Cain in his conscience. We can hear it today.
God has placed a high price on blood and life. Cain was guilty. God’s punishment wasn’t for Cain to die… but Cain was the one who said, “the first person who meets me will kill me.” God in his mercy limited the punishment that Cain experienced.
Jesus’ Blood
Jesus blood said, “Father forgive them…”
God, in his mercy comes to us and says, “What have you done?” Instead of saying, “I don’t know what happened… I haven’t done anything.” We have the opportunity to accept the gift of Jesus’ forgiveness for all of our sins.
- Revelation 12:11 – We can overcome sin by the blood of Jesus
- 1 John 1:7 – The blood of Jesus speaks of fellowship.
- Jesus blood will reconcile all things to himself.
- 1 Peter 1:18-19 – Jesus blood can change our lives.
- Hebrews 9:14 – The blood of Jesus can change our consciences and our sense of right and wrong.
The blood of Jesus is still speaking today. It is encouraging those who will listen. Will we listen? We each have a choice in that… will we accept what is extended to us.
