In our fellowship and communion here, may we be drawn to God. In drawing near to God may we also be drawn to each other as well.

We need to be careful to not put our roots down too deeply here. As Christians we are strangers and pilgrims here on this earth. Let us be living our now in light of eternity.

All for His praise and glory, for His name sake. You and I today can experience piece and reconciliation.

We can’t make God look bigger or greater than He is, but we can show forth His greatness! His name is worthy to be honored.

We have a great responsibility to portray and represent God and who He is. Everything is “all about God” it really isn’t about us, it is all about Him.

Exodus 15:11 – “Who is like You among the gods, O LORD? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in praises, working wonders?”

Words can never do justice to who our God really is.

Ezekiel 20 – That they would know that He is God, that He is Jehova. His taking us into consideration is because of who He is and for His name sake.

Isaiah 48 – The children of Israel were calling themselves children of God and were disobeying Him and not giving honor and glory to God. They disregarded God’s warning. Why did God not destroy them? For His name sake, God did not destroy them when they deserved it many times over, He had mercy on them because of His name, not because they deserved it.

God is a jealous God, He doesn’t share His glory with anyone else.

What Does This Mean Practically?

We have to accept that our concept of God really does affect the way we live. What we believe about God affects how we respond. How highly do we honor God’s name?

What happens when a Christian is unfaithful? What happens when we sin? Do we overlook what happens to the name of God when this takes place? The world around us quickly jumps to that and says “that is the way Christians live, I don’t want anything to do with that.” Are we trampling God’s name down and defiling it?

As Christians we are called to represent the name of God and His character. We are His representation here on earth.

How can we best become actively involved in restoring the name of God? We can pray that God would restore His name. God is concerned about all of the people involved, but He is also concerned about His name.

We need to acknowledge and declare that God is a Holy God. We need to glorify Him in His reflection. We need to worship and bow down in awe and reverence. Our lives need to demonstrate a submission to His authority.

We also have an enemy who is working over time in the spiritual battle we are all a part of in this world. He is trying to destroy God’s name. God can turn that around and make something beautiful if we allow ourselves to be part of His restoration committee.

Does my life reflect the holiness, perfection and glory of God? What do people see in my life? Is Jesus name glorified because of me? Or do they see carnality and responses that are not Godly?

Our testimony needs to reflect how much we love God and depend on Him. How much we want to serve and live for Him.
