We are here this morning to remember Christ and His work for us on the cross. There are lots of scriptures that we can look at this morning. There are man types and shadows that we won’t have time to look at here, but we want to celebrate Christ and what He has done for us.
It is very difficult to “sell a cure” unless we are aware of our “malady.” Sin brings death, we have to recognize that this morning.
Adam and Eve were the first to sin, plunging all of humanity into sin after them. But God was not willing that any should perish! He has kept a path available for those who would be saved.
Blood atonement the Bible is full of it, it is a major theme of scripture. Our sin requires blood atonement. The innocent dying in place of the sinful.
God gave the law through Moses, showing how to deal with sin through the regular offering of sacrifices. Hebrews tells us that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.
Jesus replaced the law for love and judgment for joy. In place of the “cup of wrath and judgment” in the Old Testament Jesus offers a “cup of joy.”
When we partake in communion we are saying yes to Jesus. Are we really living as if we are anticipating His return? We are the bride of Christ. He is coming back to claim us!
On this earth, while we wait for His return we are to be singly given to Him, living for and reaching for Him while we wait.
