This may bring to mind the Old Testament story of Moses, Aaron and Pharaoh.
As we look at this story of Moses let’s think of how it correlates to the season of Easter. This is a time of year that should be leading up to a really special and deep experience for the Christian.
What do you think of when you think of Easter?
Do you think of lent? A period of time beginning on Ash Wednesday when orthodox Christians begin a fast, forty days prior to Easter.
Do you think of Easter eggs and painting them?
God has set a type for Easter in the Old Testament. God wanted a lamb for a sacrifice.
What is Easter really about for us? What is the “meat” of the season for the Christian?
Easter is all about God freeing his people. Why do God’s people need to be free? Exodus 3:7
Exodus 5:1-23 – Pharaoh didn’t know who the Lord was. He didn’t know who he was up against. He did learn a bit more about the Lord…
The devil doesn’t really care about the kind of bondage that a person is in. He is just concerned that they are in bondage.
Evil doesn’t always recognize itself. Pharaoh saw the Israelites as something less than human… he was willing to force them into labor that would eventually kill them.
We are often so shortsighted.
Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Galatians 4:3, John 3:15-18
Without Christ and the beautiful true story of Easter, we are under a cruel task master. One who has no mercy, who wants death for us. Until we get on the right side, the side of Christ, we are like a slave, held for the benefit of another.
Because of Easter, there is incredible beauty ahead for the Christian. Christ came to release us to our fullest heavenly potential.
