Ephesians 6:10-18

God has called us to wrestle spiritually in such a way that the result will expand the borders of the Kingdom of God.

We need to love truth more than we love ourselves. If we don’t love truth we are going to, by default, choose to love ourselves.

The first purpose of the armor is to allow us to get across the field of battle without being killed. The second purpose of the armor is to allow us to wrestle actively against evil.

We aren’t just here to not get burned. We are here to do something. The armor that we read about here is not just for protection, it also allows us to do battle.

The first battle that we win has to be our walk with Christ on a personal level.

Having the right attitudes about things is a powerful way to wrestle.

Having the right values is another way to wrestle. What things are valuable in heaven?

Three weapons of offense that are available to us.

  1. Luke 12:35-40 – Be ready. Be watching. Be waiting. A mission mind set, birthed by the Holy Spirit. When we come in to the kingdom we are not called to be relaxed… we are prepared, ready to be used for/by God.
  2. Ephesians 6:17 – The sword of the Spirit – the Word of God. If you are discouraged look to Jesus! Talk to some stranger about God, use the sword of the Spirit. Become students of the Word of God. This is the sword that God has made avaliable to us, we can all become better acquainted with it and with how to use it.
  3. Ephesians 6:18 – Pray in the Spirit always. Are you pouring your soul out to God? Pray. Pray in public. Pray in private. Pray earnestly.

We are God’s last line of defense against Satan. We are here to wrestle. We are here to work for the kingdom. God is depending on us to be those who know how to pour out our souls before God and wrestle.

The Christian life is an uphill climb. We are going against the flow. Give your will to God, be dressed and ready, become a student of the Word and learn to pray always.
