1 Corinthians 3 – What is my purpose in life? What should be my priorities? In my business am I doing what God has placed me to do?
The world may forget what we do while we are here. God will never forget what we’ve done while here on earth in the cause of the kingdom.
How do we live in light of this?
Whatever we’re doing in life… ask yourself the question. Why? Why are you working hard on the things that you’re working on?
We know that we cannot serve two masters. We must choose what kingdom we will belong to, which kingdom we’ll serve.
As you think of serving and spending your life for a purpose there is a reward that goes with it.
What are your trophies in life? What is your purpose and goal? Especially in light of eternity.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 – A crown. A trophy. One that will fade away… Paul is placing up against one that will not fade away.
Are you living in the present at the expense of the future? Will you find that the trophy you are after here on earth is not worth it?
What does God want of me? How can I know him?
- Jesus relationship with his father was a priority for him.
- Prayer was a priority.
- Reaching people was a priority.
- Children
- Lepers
- The blind
Jesus saw people… but he didn’t just see a “person” he saw a soul. Let us allow Jesus priorities to become our priorities.
Haggai 1:2-11 – Our lives are an exchange. We exchange each day, each moment for time. We are spending each day, each moment, we can save them. We have no idea how many days we’ll have. When the day is gone it is gone, we won’t get it back.
Each day we take this gift, the day and we spend it.
Seek first the kingdom of God… Matthew 6
We all know that the kingdom of God should be first in our lives, but there are a lot of things out there that are seeking to be first in our lives. If we don’t think about our priorities we tend to start focusing on the things that are self serving, towards idols, away from God. Be alert! Be awake! Be aware!
Let what God has called us here to do be the center, the core of what we are doing here. Not a small piece of pie.
We will never find satisfaction outside of God’s purpose for our lives. We need to deliberately, purposely put God’s desires and purposes before the our own selfish desires and purposes.
Who are my heroes? My role models? My goals?
James 1:5 – If any of you lack wisdom. Ask of God.
