Text – Romans 1:18-32

In the opening chapters of Romans, Paul brings all men into the courtroom of Heaven, and he indites them all as sinners before a holy God. He explores how sin corrupts the experience of man; Sin and disobedience are a slippery slope that leads to a degenerate life. Properly understanding sin is necessary to correctly understand anthropology and soteriology.

Seven Steps to Moral Depravity:

  1. Holds the truth of God in unrighteousness. (1:18)
  2. Ignores the revelation of God (1:19-20)
  3. Rejects the knowledge of God (1:21)
  4. Forsakes the worship of God (1:22-23)
  5. Abandoned to uncleanness (1:24-25)
  6. Abandoned to vile affections (1:26-27)
  7. Abandoned to a reprobate mind (1:28)

A pervasive lifestyle of sin results (1:29-32)
