Milton Hostedler’s last sermon was entitled “Time is Running Out” with the emphasis that too many people live as though there’s no end to time.

Hebrews 4:11-13, Romans 14:10-12 – we will all have to give an account someday. Imagine that it’s your turn next; what will you regret? What will you be glad for?

The concept of a final reckoning or judgment was a major component of Jesus’ teaching; 20-25 references in Matthew refer to this event.

II Peter 3:10-17; we should be diligent as we look forward to these things.

I Corinthians 9:24-27; we should get our values right while we’re running the race, not after we cross the finish line. Some things are potholes to avoid, other things are running shoes but not the trophy. We shouldn’t be terrified or frantic, but sober and diligent.

We should ask ourselves, am I doing anything I will regret then? Am I investing in what matters? Am I becoming more like Jesus?
