Mathew 6:5-15 – Jesus wants the living seed that he has given us to grow deep and change the way that we interact with those around us, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Genesis 50:15-21 – After Jacob had died and was buried. The brothers of Joseph began to wonder what Joseph would do to them. Would he punish them for how they had treated him years ago?
Joseph made it clear to his brothers that he had forgiven them. He would take care of them and their children, just as he had before Jacob had died.
We should be able to have good conversations and discussions with our brothers without becoming enemies.
We need to be very careful how we take advice and perceive other people. Its always best to look for someone who tells the truth, even if it isn’t exactly what we want to hear.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean that we don’t acknowledge the hurt. It doesn’t mean that we won’t need time for healing. We can’t look ahead and make good decisions if we have our eyes glued to the rear view mirror.
Psalms 51:17, Romans – A suffering of genuine remorse and repentance is what God would have those who wrong others experience.
Mathew 5:43 – Understanding someone else and why they act the way that they do can be a real way to aid us in forgiving.
