1 John 4 – God could not have done a better job of proving that he loved us. He sent his son so that we might live through him. This is an ongoing relationship that produces life in us.
The poorest person on earth who has Christ is far better off than the richest person on earth without Christ.
When Jesus died on the cross, one of the things that he was doing was “purchasing” this kind of relationship that we can have. Friction between two members of the brotherhood can cause huge problems in the brotherhood, we need to preserve this love and care at all costs.
We are incomplete without God abiding in us and working in us. He makes us complete. God abides in us, he isn’t just visiting, he stays busy – he came to change things, he is perfecting us.
Romans 8:16 – The spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.
We’ll never be like Jesus, but if we don’t resembles Jesus there is little basis for confidence in where we stand with Christ.
John uses the words “not loving” and “hate” interchangeably. Hating and not loving are both dangerous places to be. “He who hates others does not love God.”
