1 Peter 3:1-22
- Let’s take care of each other.
- Let’s fight evil with good.
- Let’s stay the course.
Let’s be growing in brotherly love towards each other. Christians should have a special love towards each other.
One exercise to think about here if you have a sibling that you really love, is there a resemblance between how I care for that person and how I care for other Christians or members in my church? It won’t be exactly the same, but there should be some resemblance probably.
If there is someone in my church that I have a “hang up” with, am I treating them (and the situation) like I would if it was a biological sibling?
Good people who are trying to follow Jesus, but are struggling, still need to receive a blessing and care from other followers of Jesus.
We are in a war, and the way we “return fire” is by blessing people.
1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 – There is a battle going on, and doing good towards others and responding correctly is how we inflict damage on satan and his kingdom.
Psalm 34:1-22 – David is running for his life from Saul. He ends up in Gath a Philistine town. David pretends to be a mad man, and the king turns David loose and David escapes.
David says that even the righteous, good people can go through a lot of trouble. The path for a man to see good David says is to continue to trust the Lord through all this and expect his eventual deliverance.
