Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could be enthralled and captured by salvation and the provision of Jesus without giving much thought to ourselves? What does salvation mean?
I am born again and have eternal life because I believe in Jesus who is the source of life. When Jesus talks about eternal life he is not only focusing on our life after death but the quality of life we can have now. Born again means born from above. It is like the wind blowing; we can’t analyze it or control it. It happens because of the Holy Spirit’s work.
I have repented and have been converted. Repentance is a change of mind, sorrow for sin, and the effects of my sin on others, turning towards God and away from sin. It is the result of God’s mysterious work in my heart -” Holy Spirit wind.”
I am forgiven. Forgiveness could not be achieved through the Law of Moses. Forgiveness is connected to the shedding of the blood of Jesus which we have to believe. He bore everyone’s sins to the cross.
I am regenerated. Regeneration literally translated means again born. Regeneration is the result of the work of the Holy Spirit, which results in a changed heart.
I belong to Christ. One of the worst conditions anyone can be in is floating in space and not belonging to anyone or God. Belonging to Christ is a beloved state to be in. Christ has affection for his people. Believers are family members. We have a heart union with Christ and all his character qualities are available to us.
I am being delivered from the devil and sin. I am set free from Satan, the kingdom of darkness, guilt, and the habits of sin. We have been in bondage since the fall and are still in bondage today by so many fleshly things. Deliverance is rooted in Christ’s past and present work today.
I belong to Abraham’s family of faith. Abraham is an example of how we can be justified through faith. God called him a righteous man. Abraham is the father of all who believe, both Jews and Gentiles.
I am justified. Rom. 4 says a person is justified when his faith is counted for righteousness.
I can participate in God’s kingdom. We are not saved so that we can go to heaven but so we can participate in God’s kingdom here on earth.
I am baptized and filled by the Holy Spirit.
