Luke 8:1-15 – Mark 4
What is God’s purpose for every seed that is sowed? That it would grow and be fruitful! Some of the seed did this, while some of the seed did not produce seed.
Be carful how you listen. Pay close attention.
Other places Jesus talks about loosing what we have. In the parable of the talents the one talent was taken from the one who had simply buried his talent and given to the one who had worked well with what he had received.
- There are those who are hardened to the word of God, some go as far as to try to destroy it.
- There are those who are shallow. They hear and they start well, but when things get tough they give up.
- There are those who hear, and then go out and are choked out by the cares, riches, and pleasures of life. There is too much competition.
Matthew 6 – Jesus makes it clear that we are to seek first the kingdom of God and that God will not let the things that we need overwhelm us.
May God help us to recognize any thorns that may be in our lives. Not only recognize them but confess them and root them out. If we work the soil, and work out the things that are problematic… We can be good soil.
James 3:13-18 – A spiritual person who sees a thorn start to sprout… He digs it out and deals with it, the spirit rules.
1 Peter 1:22-25 – A heart purifued results in spiritual fruit. loving sincerely and fervently. In these hearts the word will bear fruit.
Hear the word. Keep the word. Bear fruit.
