Luke 2:1-52
The Jews were a very patriotic bunch of people. Many people came to rely on the Jewish religious structure.
A lot of Jews traded their heavenly inheritance for an earthly religiosity.

The day the casket lid closes… that isn’t the end of the tree. That tree continues to grow and becomes more and more beautiful.
Luke 13:18-20
A person without Christ’s leavening can only be useful for a short time. The truth is that without giving oneself to Christ, dieing and being reborn into life, a person is short-changing their potential for eternity.
When we die to ourselves and become alive to Christ, that doesn’t mean we become less useful here. It actually means that we can become more useful here on earth.
We are either part of the kingdom that is rising or we are a part of the kingdom that is falling.
It’s not so important where we are on our climb or fall… it is more important where we are heading. Let’s be heading up.
Luke 13:24-30
Individuals rose and fell in those first few days of Christ. The same was true throughout the early church… and even today it is still true.
It isn’t enough to know about Jesus. We need to embrace Christ and his identity.
