1 Thessalonians 5 – Paul talks about some pretty important things starting at verse 12.

  1. How the ordained relate to the non ordained.
  2. How the church deals with needs and weaknesses within the church.

These areas are important indicators of the health of our congregational life.

The non ordained need to respect and esteem the ordained. Both need to have good relationships and have good attitudes towards the other.

Elders are to labour among the flock. This would include preaching and visiting and other things too.

Elders are “over you” in the Lord.

It is fairly easy to give instruction, but it is harder to give a warning. Both are part of what being a church leader includes.

We all are faint hearted at some point. Be an encourager!

The body, not just the ministry, is to help the weak. Part of the purpose of the church is to “grow up” its members.
