John 14, Romans 5 – these are the main two passages behind this message.
Jesus is telling his disciples not to be troubled, that they need to “Believe in me instead.” If they believe in him Jesus promises them peace.
What kind of peace is this? This is not the world’s versions of peace. It is a courageous peace.
- Put your faith in Jesus and walk with Him. Having been justified by faith we have peace with God. We don’t get anywhere without this. The thing that is different about the peace that Jesus offered is that it isn’t a one time gift. It is an ongoing gift. This gift of peace that Jesus offers is something that we experience continually as we walk with the Prince of Peace. It is only as we abide in Jesus that we will continue to have/find peace.
- Believe that God works good. Romans 8:28 is followed by a little phrase that we shouldn’t forget. “Being conformed to the image of the Son.” God wants to make us more like His Son.
- We need to adopt the agenda that God has for us. Is becoming more like Christ of utmost importance for you? Having the same goals as Christ can really be a source of courage, despite whatever comes along in life.
May you enjoy God’s peace throughout the holidays this year.
