Mathew 7:24-29 – When Christ talked people listened. Jesus taught as one having authority.
We need to keep in mind that our kingdom is not of this world. Our king commands, based on this truth, that we not fight. Instead of fighting authority we are told that we should obey authority and respect those in authority and pray for them.
There will be times when we do need to stand in opposition to the authority of this world. Not violently, but standing and accepting the consequences that will come, relying on God for the outcome.
Colossians 4:5-6, 1 Peter 3:13-15, Judges 26:25 – How does authority affect us? The lack of God ordained authority brings about confusion.
1 Corinthians 14:33, James 3:16 – God designed authority. It is good for creation and for mankind.
We may not be able to change the world. Most of the time we are not called to change the world. God will do that in his own time and in his own way. Changing the world is only a good thing if the changes are good. There are a lot of changes that are not good.
Authenticity
Authenticity is key to living a life under God’s authority. Jesus was authentic, he was, is and always will be “the real deal.”
Psalm 100:3, 1 Peter 2:5, Leviticus 21 – The person who has a relationship with Jesus has an obligation to proclaim. We have an opportunity and an obligation today to present this precious truth to others.
Adherence to Scripture
If we are living stones and part of a royal priesthood it seems that we would naturally do what our leader wants us to do. There is a propensity in all of us to “take the convenient and ignore the inconvenient.” We can’t be picking and choosing when it comes to adhering to scripture.
Will we go our own way? Or will we follow the sanctification of God in our lives.
2 Peter 2:1 – God is at work redeeming and making us holy.
John 10:10 – If we are truly living an abundant life the Holy Spirit will be speaking into our lives. It won’t always be what we want to hear… but it will be what we need to hear.
We can look like we are doing well and still be dying on the inside. Jesus wants us to be alive and vibrant and full of life.
If you are wondering or wandering spiritually the only thing that can help is to call out to the savior.
Galatians 5:22, Mathew 5:44 – If we are having a problem loving someone. There is a practical solution… Jesus told us that we should pray for them.
We may never be called to preach to thousands. We may never be called to heal the lame. We are called to participate in the divine power and do the things that God calls us to do.
This calling is for today, tomorrow… for now… Grow the treasure, don’t suppress it.
