This sermon is to encourage Dads to do well and to encourage children to have good relationships with their parents. Proverbs 17:6 shows us three generations, grandparents, parents and grandchildren, a picture of what God would like to see in families.

Even in the beginning of time we see broken relationships between fathers and sons; Adam and Cain, Isaac and Jacob, David and Solomon. God is interested in restoring relationships. God made a way to restore our relationship with Him through his Son, Jesus, and between people.

Some responsibilities of fathers: be a provider, be consistent, love the children’s mother, be unselfish, be a lifegiver instead of a taker, be a good example, be quick to apologize when you have done wrong and many more.

Fathers should be protectors. They should have a vision for their children and help guide them. Create safe boundaries. Have an open relationship with them. Is your heart turned toward your children?

Children also have a responsibility to their parents which is obedience and honor.
