Isaiah 50:4-7, Psalms 19:12-14
God knows our words even before we speak.
God will judge our words. We should all be concerned that all our words are acceptable to God.
Words come from the heart…the heart is the real person.
Words carry messages. Words are like trucks. Some are empty, some carry explosives, some carry treasures.
Only that which is constructive/wholesome should come from our mouth. “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth.”
Wrong Words:
Presumptuous words are not up building
Angry words are bad. Don’t.
Venting is poisonous. Gossip sows strife and harms friendships. It enjoys seeing reputations tarnished.
Taking the Lords name in vain is strictly commanded against in God’s Word.
Name calling – speaking in a way that tears someone down
Idle words – men shall give account for them on the day of judgment. These are lazy, useless words.
Good Words:
Out of a heart in tune with God should flow rivers of living water – gracious, loving words. “That which ministers grace to the hearers.”
Our relationship with God should affect our conversations.
Our heart often conveys an unspoken message, in the way we love, the way we care.
Edifying words come from a heart that has been and is being edifyed by Gods word.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.”
