Quotable Quotes

What a man loves most – that is his god, that is his treasure.

How tragic it would be if we worked and got all the things that we wished for the very most and then when we got to the end we realized that it was nothing at all. Instead of a treasure – that we had been seeking a curse, that we had built our house on the sand.

Take heed and be ware of covetousness. These things of the earth will not bring you happiness. They will not lengthen your life. They will not give you eternal life.

The “worth” of the world is some 50 trillion dollars. How foolish it would be if a person would trade his soul for the worth of the world. Instead we should be laying up treasure in heaven where moths and rust won’t destroy.

Your heart follows your treasure. Whatever you find your treasure in that is the thing that your heart will naturally graduate towards. If we value things of the earth our focus will be on the earth. If we value the things of heaven then we will focus on heaven.

The rich young ruler wasn’t treasuring Jesus and his words. His treasure was great possessions. So when Jesus told him that he needed to sell all he had… he had a really hard time coming to terms with that.

Set your affection on things above, not on things of the earth.

It is a matter of the heart. What is our affection? Is it earthly?

Labor therefore for the things that last. The things of everlasting life.

If a financial calamity hits you can you say with all honesty, “The Lord has given and the Lord has taken away…?” Do you recognize that all things are the Lords. It comes from the Lord and it is His – as are we.

Our lives are like a vapor. Our things are like a vapor. We need guidance so that our lives are devoted to God so that we have clear guidance.

What do we treasure?

What do you treasure?

Where your treasure is – that is where your heart will be also.

Taste and see that the Lord is good. As we do that our appetite will grow and we will desire those things more and more.
