Hebrews 13:1-25 – There are a lot of things that change, but Jesus never changes. He is rock solid. This doesn’t mean that he doesn’t move. Jesus is always at work and moving among and within those who are his.
We will all face death. Death is a huge change. If we know Jesus it is a great change. If we do not know Jesus it is a really bad change.
Hebrews 1:10 – Niagara falls is considered to be one of the 7 wonders of the world. When you visit over a number of years it seems as if things are not changing, but there are small bits of the falls that are changing over time.
Jesus the creator is rock solid and stable. He is complete in himself. Because Jesus doesn’t change, his plan for our change is ongoing. God wants to work in our lives every single day.
Malachi, Psalm 90 – God is a God of eternity and stability.
Revelations 1:8, James 1:7 – All good things come from God… who is unchanging… He is someone we can trust.
What Does This Mean for Us?
- Because Jesus is unchanging we can have confidence in him. Jesus has promised that He will be with us and will supply our needs and will help us change into the kind of person who he is, reflecting his image. The world tends to ask “how can I get a little more?” Jesus says, I am your helper and I will provide, people, money and cars will change… but Jesus will not change. Our health will fail. Our houses will grow old and leak. Jesus never changes.
- Because Jesus is unchanging we can be content in him. Jesus knows what we need, both physically and spiritually.
- We are complete and perfect in Jesus. This is something that seems impossible, but with God all things are completely possible. We only see a very small piece of “the picture,” God sees the entire picture.
