Genesis 1:1-2 – There was perfect fellowship between God and man. Then came the fall. We know the story, it is a tragic story.
From a clear understanding of the greatness and goodness of God to a sinful choice… a choice that brought a number of circumstances with it.
What happened in the Garden? What happened with man afterwards until the time of the flood and ever since? In wicked environments the truth of who God is is grossly corrupted and lost. Hearts are darkened.
When we loose track of who God is a shadow can come over our understanding of who God is.
We have a God like no other religion claims to have. No wonder Moses sang, “who is like thee oh God?” David, in his last years praised God saying, “What can I say more unto thee? For though Lord God knowest thy servant.”
Jesus didn’t just come to show us that God loved us… He also came to redeem us. He was criticized for being associated with publicans and sinners, he was a friend to them. He came to seek and to save that which was lost.
Those things that we really need are the things that God supplies. He is the God that we need.
Have you ever heard of another “god” who promises a heavenly existence with him?
Is God my friend? Would he call me his friend like he did Abraham?
