The husband wife relationship is a relationship. We are all in relationships, whether or not we are married.
Ephesians 5:14-33 – Have we been awake to our responsibilities and relationships? We need to be attentive to the needs of those that are around us. All of us need to be “awaken” at times to see the needs of the ones we relate to.
One of the biggest challenges of marriage is the fact that we are committing to love and stick with someone else who is imperfect, as we are. To be able to love an imperfect person requires a power outside of ourselves.
Love is essential to all relationships.
What is this love?
Here in Ephesians the word is “agape” – A love that is totally unselfish, seeking not its own satisfaction, nor even a return of affection. Jesus has modeled this love in how he loves his bride the church.
God’s love is amazing. It isn’t dependent on the other persons behavior. It isn’t dependent on a return of the affection. Courtesy. Humility. Kindness. Etc.
Is it possible to love this way? The way the Bible describes love? It is only possible by the grace and power of God.
What are we willing to give up for the needs of those around us? Especially our spouses?
Mothers and Womanhood
Titus 2:5 – Caring for and teaching children is incredibly valuable. Whether that is in the home, teaching school, or however you touch the lives of those around you.
The life of a godly mother or woman is something that will be noticed by those around you.
