I Cor. 11:27-29

Before communion we need to examine ourselves. What questions should be included in this examination?

Are we at peace with 1) God and 2) our fellow man?

Matthew 5:23,24

Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:15

Have I been seeking the good of each other? Or have we been repaying evil for evil.

What are some ways we can disobey this verse and respond poorly?

  1. Payback mode
  2. Martyr mode
  3. Armor-All mode

The problem with all these are that they don’t seek the good of the other person or the church.

Ephesians 4:?

In my opinion, in the context of the church, you have more obligation to do good to those that hurt you than you did before.

How do we seek each other’s good?

  1. Pray about the other person (I John 5:?)
  2. Put on a muzzle — Be careful that your words about the other person are going to do good
  3. Serve them
  4. Confront them cautiously, properly, and lovingly

Am I seeking the good of everyone, especially those that have hurt me?
