Man has tried to elevate society to a place where it functions at its best. The reason it has always failed is that the human problem of sin, greed, etc has never been dealt with.

When God made man, He didn’t just have the body and its biology in mind. All life originates with God. What God formed from the dust was flesh and bone. He then added something extra to man.

What happens when the governing force that God wants to be in our lives isn’t there? Every one of us has a soul that is meant to operate in harmony with the Spirit of God. When we are without God’s Spirit he is without the benefit of what God wants him to understand.

The carnal person is very much controlled by the things of the flesh. All of us would choose life over death, health over sickness, safety over sickness, etc. One mark of a carnal person is an “animal” type response to the situations of life.

Is it possible to know the Lord and be a carnal person?

There are two important things that happen at the new birth of a believer. God has our attention, and He is doing a divine work in our hearts. The second thing is that we are engaging our will in a new direction, we are no longer seeking the things of the world.

In the great spiritual battle that we are a part of, our soul is the prize. God wants to redeem it, Satan wants to destroy it. God through the Spirit wants to introduce a heavenly draw that pulls our spirits, and souls upward. When the Spirit is in control we get the fruit of the Spirit showing up in our lives.

Scriptures used – Galatians 5:13-26, Genesis 2:7, Genesis 2:19, John 3:3-12, Romans 8:1-8
