The law was intended for our well-being. God mercifully telling His people how to live. God created the universe, He was telling man right upfront how the universe should be worked with.
Man needs law, our wills are lazy. We need the reminder that we need to do some things. We are clever at making things right in our minds, even though deep down we know they are wrong.
We are masters at rationalizing our behavior, and we need the law to call us up short. David put God’s law into song, he said, I want to sing God’s law.
The only genuine freedom is to be in line with the laws of the universe. How can we do this? By having a righteousness that exceeds. If we allow what God has told us to be internalized we can go beyond.
Does God ask us to do things that are impossible? If God tells us that we can do something, He knows! Jesus calls us to deliberately choose the right thing.
Jesus was a great believer in man, He never put man down. The three words on Jesus’ lips were the least, last, and lost, but contempt is active hatred. If you demean someone that is active hatred.
Take the offensive, clear up the offense as quickly as you can. Don’t even put religious activities first! Take initiative even if you weren’t the cause. If you know someone has something against you, go to them.
How do we eliminate our enemies? By turning them into friends.
