Quotable Quotes
Jesus is calling out to us to come unto him and he will give us rest. Jesus is the son of God, He is God, and he is qualified to offer us this rest.
Who is Jesus calling to and offering this rest? Everyone who needs it. All of us. The rich, the poor, the ugly, the good looking, the needy, the ones who have everything.
A yoke can be a good thing or it can be a bad thing.
A yoke is something that helps make it possible to pull a load that they couldn’t pull otherwise. It is a way of converting the power of the horse into usable energy.
A big part of a yoke working well is that the one in the yoke must be surrendered and yielded to the yoke. It is not different for us, we must come to Jesus and be willing to submit to what He calls us to.
When we surrender to Jesus and are willing and humble and eager to hear the heavenly Father is “pleased to share all good things with us.”
There are several ways for Jesus to relieve our burdens. Jesus doesn’t rid us of our burdens. He gives us rest and the strength to bear them and bear them well.
Jesus helps us accept our burdens. He will bring us to the place that we can see and recognize our need for help.
Some burdens are completely taken away, guilt for instance is taken away, and fears can be taken away as we come to understand our security in Christ.
Jesus isn’t talking about an easy life. Jesus demands very high standards of us. He says that unless we exceed the Scribes and Pharisees we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.
If we are really repentant of living our life without Jesus and if we are willing to place our trust in him and are willing to follow and obey him and be surrendered to him and be his disciple and let him be our teacher, we will find that life will be very different than the way we have lived previously.
Jesus is the best teacher, he takes us where we are and helps us towards where we need to go.
We must seek him and call out to him and surrender to him for him to do all of these things for us.
