Jesus says that joy has nothing to do with circumstances. When a man can stand at the stake and sing, certainly his joy has nothing to do with his circumstances. Joy is found in a deep sense of security and relationship with God.
Jesus says that without Him we can do nothing. We like to think that we can do a little without Jesus, but the truth is that we can do nothing apart from Him!
Self on the cross, Christ on the throne, this is where we want to try to live. When we do this we being to see ourselves and how selfish we are. They cause us grief, we see the world is a battleground instead of a playground.
The cross shows us the horror of what sin can do.
Jesus says we are to be blameless and as harmless as doves. Let it not be said that we said things in a hurtful way, we have things to say that are heavy, but let us not do it in any way that causes harm.
Joseph did what he did because he said over and over again that I fear God. That was the controlling principle of his life.
The meek person can afford to do good and wait. He is on the side of the universe.
Human beings all try to act as if they are good people. Most people want to be good. Why is everyone haunted with this desire to being good? God wants us to pursue perfection, he put that desire into our hearts.
If you have a passion for righteousness you will become more righteous. God looks at the passion and the pursuit and He credits that.
A person who has completely surrendered to Christ. A person who hungers and thirsts for righteousness. A person who has finally come to the point where he can see God. We see what we are prepared to see, the person who is pure in heart is ready to see God!
