I want to talk about being authentic Christinas.
Sometimes we get caught up in the pretense of being real.
How real are you?
Joshua 24:9-15
I think because of our background we learn really well how to pretend. I’m afraid that sometimes we as young people grow up faking it.
That’s not an authentic life.
Numbers 22,23 (the story of Balaam)
Seven things that fake Christians do:
1) They live in fear
Authentic Christians know that they can trust God.
2) They want to be in control.
Authentic Christians accept God’s will without questioning it.
3) They are selfish.
Authentic Christians know that God’s will comes before our own personal interest.
4) They are controlled by their environment.
Authentic Christians refuse to let life’s troubles drive them away from God.
5) They aren’t willing to admit their mistakes
.
Authentic Christians accept responsibility, they confess, and they make it right.
6) Fake Christians only help others when it helps themselves.
Authentic Christians do so whether it helps them or not.
7) Fake Christians put on a false front to hide their real motives.
Authentic Christians show their real identity all the time.
If it matters more what others think of you than why God does, you’re a fake. You may succeed in fooling everyone, but you won’t fool God.
