Communion symbolizes why Jesus came. Our commemoration of Christs death and remember His life and sacrifice is symbolized and typified in the symbols of communion. In a larger picture, our lives need to be an extension of what communion is all about.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 – Paul was not one of Jesus 12 disciples, so he is passing on what he had learned from the original disciples.
Can we proclaim the Lord’s death in our living?
“This do…” Jesus isn’t just speaking about things related to big moments, big choices etc, all of the small things in life also fit into this “this do” that Jesus is calling us to.
Luke 22:7-38 – Jesus knew that he needed an adequate place for the passover supper. Our intentional Jesus asked the disciples to practice communion to commemorate something that hadn’t even happened yet.
We should develop a habit of asking God for practical assistance in planning our days. Is there a connection I should make today? Do I have something I need to take care of from yesterday? Is there a “this do” that the Spirit is giving us as we look at the day?
Life isn’t always scripted… our days don’t always “go to plan.” What about surprises? What about painful things that happen?
We need to hear Jesus calling us even as we struggle to surrender to the circumstances that He has allowed in our lives. Our flesh is often where our battle is, it wants to hold on to hurts and ask why.
Sometimes all we can do is lift our hands just a little, but He will give us the strength to do what He asks us to do. This is a team effort, Jesus is on your side, you ware not alone.
