Ephesians 4:11-16 – This is the prayer that we need to have for ourselves. This is a beautiful picture. Christ is the head of the church. There are those put in different places within the body of Christ to further grow and nurture the group of believers. This is how an army of disciples of Jesus can walk together.
We fight and over come deception with the truth or God’s word. There is a vital connection between truth and how important it is to fight deception.
Wealth, just like sin and disobedience is deceptive. It promises so much but gives so little in return.
Mark 4:7-20 – Satan gets us so busy taking care of our stuff that we loose the ability/time/desire for the things of God. It’s about prioritizing our time. What is important to you? You will find time in the day to do the things that are important to you. Satan tries to make prosperity look appealing and the Word of God dull and drab.
Ephesians 5:6-19 – We have two contrasting words here. Darkness and light. The Christian’s music should edify us. It should teach us in a way that improves and nurtures our minds. Walk as children of the light. Be filled with the Spirit!
Satan is reeking havoc in the homes of people today. Let us guard our homes with our lives. God’s Word needs to be an every day part of our lives. Make the Word of God a central part of your life.
1 Corinthians – There is a direct connection between the quality of our friends and the quality of our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Abstain – a word that sounds simple, but its not. Perhaps we need to abstain from things. When we get to the point when we can say “its not worth it” and give it up. When did the Bible say that being a disciple of Christ would be easy and convenient? In fact the Bible would seem to say the opposite. If things are getting between us and our relationship with God, they need to go!
Where is your focus, what is important to you?
Self denial is not a mark of weakness it is the mark of a try child of the King.
Deception is a major tool in Satan’s “last days” toolbox. We guard against deception by recognizing the power of the Word of God. God’s Word is relevant for all generations. God’s Word is unchanging, it wasn’t “just for them back in the day.” It is definitely for us here today.
