Hebrews 3,4, Numbers 13:27
Rest is faith in action, it can happen when we know that we belong to God, that we are his.
Joshua and Caleb saw an opportunity for God’s power to take care of the Children of Israel. The other spies saw themselves in front of the giants, just small flesh against large flesh.
This rest is something that God has promised his followers. God made us in his image, he wants us to have fellowship with him and he wants us to have fellowship with him.
There is only one way for man to be at rest with God. It can only be when he has a clean and open relationship with God. When we reject God we reject the only thing that can bring true fulfillment.
Revelation 14:11, Romans 16:16
God works through us as a body of believers, when we pray together, when we seek his face.
We are called to labor, go to the word, to seek and pursue what God has to say to us. The word of God has the ability to do a spiritual surgery within us. By allowing this work to take place in our lives we become more and more like him.
Matthew 11:28-30
One of the reasons for God’s yoke being easy and burden being lite is that the closer we get to Jesus the more we can abide in his rest.
John 14:1
This rest that is promised to the followers of God is not just a rest that we can find here on earth. It is also an eternal rest, a great place prepared for each of us.
John 14:26
God sent a comforter, the Holy Spirit, who leads us to a deeper relationship with our creator. That is where true rest and peace can be found.
1 Peter 1:13-16
As we move ahead in obedience to God’s will, like Caleb and Joshua were willing to do, we are again brought closer to the image of God. As we become more like our savior we can find a deeper and fuller rest.
