Revelation 5:9 – Every tribe, every nation, every kind of people… not just our kind of people! My race, my clan, your race, your clan… all are recipients of God’s grace.
We have a tremendous responsibility to share the things that God has done for us, and that he wants to do for those around us.
What is hindering the harvest of souls from every tribe and every nation today? Are there too many obstacles? Do we just not have what it takes?
There are two seasons in the farmers life when time is of essence. The first is the seed planting time and the second is the time of the year when they need to be harvesting.
Matthew 9 – Have we heard God’s call? Have we caught the vision? What if we lived in a time when God seldom spoke, or when we had the Word of God so readily available to us?
God wanted to speak to Samuel, it wasn’t Eli that God wanted to talk to. Sometimes we wait for God to speak to those around us, are we listening for God to speak to and use us?
As we go through the scripture we see God calling a specific person to do a specific work in their time and in their country.
Abraham was called to move. Where? To a country that God would show him.
Moses was called to move and to lead the children of Israel
through the desert to the promised land.
Isaiah 6:1 – Have you poured your life and energy into your work for God’s glory? Are you pursuing your own ambitions and goals on your own?
1 Kings 19:21 – When God’s call came Elisha he left everything behind.
Hebrews 11 – We don’t have time to look at all of these tonight, but Hebrews tells us about a lot of people who were led by God to do something, and who answered the call.
Romans 1:20, Ecclesiastes 3:11 – Every man and woman, according to these verses, should be able to see God in the creation around us. God has also placed a longing for and questioning about eternity into our hearts.
When a church body isn’t actively engaged in outreach we tend to turn our energies to being fruit inspectors of those in our church body around us. This often has a destructive effect on a church body.
Developing a personal sensitivity for where I can help and then helping is vitally important for Christians today.
What will our generation be remembered for? Many of our ancestors as anabaptists were tortured and put to death for their faith. What will we be remembered for? Our baking? Our carpentry?
Galatians 6:10 – Don’t forget to see the needs of those around you, especially those in the church, but not just them.
