Genesis 22:1-14 – To take a biblical position in your child training when the world has gone far off course is difficult. Yet it is vitally important.
Parenting wasn’t for cowards in the olden days, it is still definitely not for the faint of heart.
There are a lot of things that are not said here in Genesis, but we can imagine some of these things. Abraham had packed his bags to follow God, to where? To a place that God would show him.
James 4:17 – How quick are we to follow the gentle (or not so gentle) direction of the Holy Spirit in our lives?
Why did Isaac stand there and allow his father to do all these things to him? Isaac could have likely gotten away from his dad if he’d have wanted to… We don’t know all the answers, but it would seem that Abraham had lived a life of consistency that Isaac was able to trust and follow.
Matthew 12:36-37, Ephesians 5, Ecclesiastes 12:14 – Speech – The scripture has a lot to say about the things that we say. Our speech will keep us out of heaven if we don’t keep it under God’s control.
Romans 12:22 – Music is something that we have to be very careful about. Most of the “stuff” on the radio has a toxic affect on those who listen.
Admit when you’re wrong. Be quick to ask for forgiveness and work through the problems that will arise.
Do your children see an example of Godly character when they live in your shadows and watch every single thing that you do? To often parents have one standard for themselves and another one for everyone else.
