Revelation 5:1-14 – We are here to remember. We are here to remember while we take of the bread and drink of the cup.
We remember Him, who he is, what he did and what he is like.
Who is Jesus? He is the lamb of God who came and made provision so that the sin of the world could be taken away.
John 1:29 – The Jewish people were expecting a warrior, instead they got a “lamb of God.”
Isaiah 53:7 – To know God is to love him.
Worthy. Worthy is the Lamb!
What makes the Lamb worthy?
- He is worthy because of his sovereignty – he is a conquering king, the Son of God, the righteous one. Philippians 2 – Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
- He is worthy because of his sinlessness. 1 Peter 1 – Jesus had to be sinless. The only sacrifice that could satisfy the holiness of God.
- He is worthy because of his submission. Mathew 26:36-44 – “Thy will be done.”
- He is worthy because of his sacrifice. Hebrews 10 – Jesus laid down his life as a sacrifice and atonement for our sin.
The blood that Jesus shed as he laid down his life is adequate for the sins of the whole world. We must believe and accept by faith that he died for us. The whole world is not saved because they don’t all believe.
Do you believe that the sacrifice of the Lamb of God was for you?
Worthy is the Lamb.
