Paul Lives a Crucified Life – 2 Corinthians 4:8, Galatians 2:20, Romans 12:1
John 3:1-36, Mathew 26:36-75, Mathew 26:11-66, Romans 1
The crucifixion may be one of the darkest moments in the history of Man. A lot of the story happened in the dark.
Jesus said that evil men like darkness more than they like light because they are evil. Jesus was hauled through the dark, the people who led him were bent on destroying him.
Pilate was in the dark. Void of understanding yet asking Jesus questions. Jesus offered the truth to Pilate and he chose to go with the crowd instead of Jesus.
As Jesus was being crucified he prayed for those who were carrying out the task of crucifying him. They were in the dark.
1 Corinthians 2:8
Paul tells us that evil men in the world do not have a light. He says that if the people who crucified Jesus would have known the truth they wouldn’t have crucified him.
The world is filled with a great spiritual darkness. The world is also in rebellion, wicked, not surrendered to God.
Unsaved man struggles agains the will of an almighty and holy God.
Though man is helpless to change his situation. We can’t change who we are on our own. We cannot make ourselves acceptable to God.
Man is/was under condemnation… but God, “so loved the world,” that he gave us Jesus – our way to a new life.
Colossians 1:9-20, John 21:1-25
