Five Words
1 Corinthians 14:1-40
Five words can communicate so much if they are in a language that we can understand.
Jesus said…
– I will build my church.
– Ye must be born again.
– Seek ye first the kingdom.
– Ask and you shall receive.
– I am with you always.
As we look over this chapter there are a lot of things here.
How to Speak
God has given us the gift of speech and communication. Along with this gift comes a responsibility.
1 Corinthians 13:1-2
We are to speak with charity. Love should be the motive behind all of our speech. Speak with love as God speaks with love.
Genesis 1:3
We are also to speak with clarity. Use words to communicate that are clear in what they mean and clear in how they are spoken.
Jesus declared God’s word in a manner that was clear and understandable. Jesus words were powerful and convicting, once a group of men went to arrest Jesus and returned without him saying that they had never heard a man speak like Jesus.
What to Speak
Prophesy – speak forth God’s message.
Edification – constructive upbuilding words – Colossians 4:12
Who to Speak
We all speak.
This scripture is generally speaking mostly about who should speak during church services.
Colossians 3:16
Speakers should speak in an orderly manner. All of us should come to church with a desire to speak encouragingly to one another. Maybe not during the service, maybe after the service.
1 Corinthians 11:1-34
Acts 2:1-47
Speakers who speak should have a love and respect for God’s word.
Acts 20:32
