Three Gardens
The story of God working with mankind can be brought together into three gardens. In each case, God meets with man and provides. And in each case man has a choice.
The Garden of Eden
Eden – pleasure / paradise
The region of Adam’s home.
Genesis 2:7-10, 15
A perfect place to live. A place where you looked forwards to God coming and fellowshipping in the cool of the day.
Genesis 3:1-11
Three types of death.
Spiritual death – right away
Physical death – came eventually
Eternal death – if we are not saved, we will perish for an eternity.
A promise of something greater to come. A savior.
The Garden of Gethsemane
A place of life/fruit/food – a place where Jesus liked to go and pray.
Matthew 26:36-45, 56
Jesus in agony in the Garden, disciples weak, Judas betraying.
There’s hope in the garden because Jesus chose to surrender himself to God.
Philippians 3:7,8
All of must choose. Christ did it for us. Just as we were banished from the garden of Eden, but now he all invites us to the garden of Gethsemane.
The Garden of God – Paradise
A restoration of creation.
Revelations 7:9-17
Revelations 21
We must go to Gethsemane before we can arrive at the Garden of God.
Revelations 20:10
Revelations 21:8
Some people choose the road and except the destiny. Some choose the destiny and accept the road. Which choice will you make?
Isaiah 11:1,2, 10,11
We cannot enjoy the garden of God if we choose not to go through the Garden of Gethsemane.
