This message is part of a series preached at BMC in the fall of 2013 by John D Martin.
Here is a list of all the messages in this series.
A profile is an outline or a contour. We are talking about the outline or the contour of what the new song is.
Much music is “fad driven” there are songs that we will not be singing in 50 years. But there are hymns that that have enduring qualities.
1 Chronicles 12:32
Music involves worship, “to worship involves the whole person.”
Hebrews 11
Every one of us has a number one value in our lives.
Songs nurture Christ as the number one passion in our lives. If they are the right kinds of songs. It is important therefore that we sing the right kinds of songs.
What has probably destroyed more countries than anything is the music that we listen to…
We have a copy of the new song in the Bible.
Revelation 5
Things you need to have if you have the best or most wholesome kind of communication.
- Every good bit of communication has a Theme.
- In order for this theme to be remembered there needs to be Repetition.
- There also needs to be Variation on the theme.
- There also needs to be a Conclusion that ties the whole thing together and reminds you of the theme that you were originally working to convey.
The New Song
God shows us that this is how it’s done.
Verse 9 – The theme here is that Christ is worthy.
The first variation on the theme is why Christ is worthy. He has redeemed us to God and has made us kings and priests.
The angels join. How worthy Christ is.
Every creature joins the choir. The conclusion tells us how long his worthiness shall endure.
Amos 5:23, 24
Ephesians 5
